SUMMARY:Black Educators Speak: A Critical Look at Equity Across Learning Spaces
DESCRIPTION:About this Event\n\n\nWith Wisconsin being at the national forefront of racialized educational disparities between Black and white students\, many educators seek strategies for dismantling existing barriers. \nThis leads many educators to ask the question: what does race-based equity look like in a variety of learning spaces? \nFrom early childhood classrooms to afterschool settings and college lecture halls\, join our outstanding panel of Wisconsin education leaders to learn about their own experiences and strategies for developing equitable learning spaces. \nOur brilliant panel will consist of:\n\nBianca Baldridge: Education Policy Professor at UW-Madison. Her research focuses on “the confluence of race\, class\, gender and the educational reforms that shape community-based spaces that engage Black and Latinx youth”.\nIris Patterson: 5th grade teacher at MMSD. Iris is a phenomenal educator who infuses racial justice-based strategies into her classrooms and advocates for inclusivity in her school and beyond.\nRachelle Stone: Rachelle is a part of MMSD’s Racial Equity Design Team\, advocating for serving all students by offering professional development for educators.\nKaleem Caire: Kaleem is the founder and CEO of the transformational One City Schools based here in Madison. Kaleem has been a force for driving change in early childhood and K-12 education for decades.\n\nSpace is limited. Register now!\nThis event will be moderated by Mouna Algahaithi\, Education Engagement Specialist at PBS Wisconsin. \nHave a question you’d like to submit to the panel? Enter it during registration!
