The importance of building and maintaining positive, trusting parent-child relationships that stress attachment and attunement is balanced with the need to assist our children with developing emotional regulation, self-esteem and behavioral control. The following strategies will be presented utilizing a trauma lens, including examples and role plays: Child-led play and reflective listening; Praise and encouragement; Pre-teaching and shared decision-making; and De-escalation.
